Millions of children worldwide are impacted by child labor, which hinders their development. Child labor is defined as employment that harms a child's physical and mental development and robs them of their youth, potential, and dignity. It is a global issue that needs immediate attention.
Figures
The International Labour Organization (ILO) estimates that as of 2020, 160 million youngsters were working as minors. This number corresponds to almost one in ten children globally, the bulk of whom are engaged in risky jobs.

Area of Concentration
Given that child labor is most prevalent in Sub-Saharan Africa, this is a particularly serious issue there. There are a lot of child laborers in South Asia as well, especially in industries like manufacturing, services, and agriculture. Child labor is still common in many areas because of their poor educational systems and economic difficulties.
Repercussions
Children who work as children suffer greatly as a result. It may cause physical harm, long-term health issues, or even death. Psychologically, it frequently leads to sadness, anxiety, and trauma. Child labor limits children's future chances by preventing them from attending school, which keeps them in a cycle of poverty.
Urge to Take Action
It takes a team effort to combat child labor. Laws must be strictly enforced by governments, and NGOs must continue people can choose to support ethical behaviors by being knowledgeable about them and their advocacy and support. Working together, we can ensure that no youngster is forced to work.
